New Image Writers FounderThe Mayor's Wife Wore Sapphires by Martha Tucker, Founder BIOGRAPHY Martha Tucker’s days are now filled with promoting her novel, The Mayor’s Wife Wore Sapphires, an inner city political mystery/thriller that fictionalizes her life as the wife of Compton Mayor, Walter R. Tucker. Tucker hails from Gary, Indiana and  attended Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, where she met and married her husband, a dental student, who later became the Mayor of Compton.
